Nitecore EDC17 features a similar flat housing design to the EDC2x series. In addition to the classic flashlight functionality, it also has a built-in UV light and a green laser. Another typical feature of the Nitecore EDC series is the built-in 1500 mAh battery, with an estimated capacity of approximately 5.5 watt-hours. The battery in the Nitecore EDC series is not replaceable.

Switch
Nitecore now uses a slide switch that provides different levels of brightness from off to full brightness, and there's also a laser pointer button (press and hold for additional actions) that can also be used to toggle the light source.
Running Time
Nitecore specifies a minimum runtime of 1 hour and 45 minutes at maximum power. However, this testing was conducted in a lab without temperature control. The EDC17 isn't designed to operate at 1,500 lumens continuously.
